Our Curvy Girl of the Month is 28 year old New Jersey Native Demetra.  In 2002, Demetra relocated to Atlanta, GA where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Clark Atlanta University, and later a Master’s degree in Community Counseling from Argosy University.


Demetra has a genuine passion for working with children and adolescents.  She has a background in early childhood education and social services. Currently she works as a mental health therapist for children and adolescents who have emotional, behavioral, and psychological disturbances.  She is preparing to receive her National Certified Counselor credential to become a Licensed Professional Counselor. Demetra affirms her desire to make a difference because "it's a blessing to be a blessing.” 


Demetra is also bilingual which, is an asset in her line of work, allowing her to make a greater impact within her professional community due to her Spanish-speaking capabilities. Outside of her professional life, Demetra values quality time with her family friends, and overall enjoying life.


Demetra developed a new found love for fashion and modeling! Demetra appeared in her first runway show in 2008 which was produced by a celebrity stylist and designer.  She now aspires to become a plus size commercial print model. Demetra shared with The Curvy Critique that "...My aspiration is more than just self-fulfillment in my pursuit of print modeling, but anticipation to use my smile, initiative, and confident demeanor to inspire and instill hope in girls and women to embrace their bodies and to fulfill their life ambitions.”
